TL;DR
A pilot program is testing a scholarship tracker designed for high school counselors to better manage student applications. The tool aims to address scattered tracking methods and support counselors with large caseloads.
A new scholarship application organizer tailored for high school counselors is currently being tested as a pilot project to streamline the management of student scholarship applications and deadlines.
The initiative aims to address the challenge that students often miss scholarship opportunities due to scattered notes on requirements, essays, references, transcripts, and deadlines. The proposed tool is a scholarship tracker that maps these elements, helping counselors monitor student progress more effectively.
According to an anonymous researcher involved in the project, the minimum viable product (MVP) includes features such as requirement mapping, student status updates, reference request tracking, and upcoming deadline alerts. The pilot involves one counselor managing ten anonymized student applications over a two-week period to validate the concept.
Potential Impact on Scholarship Support Efficiency
This tool could significantly improve the efficiency of high school counselors by reducing missed scholarship opportunities for students. It responds to the increasing caseloads counselors face while families expect more support around affordability planning. If successful, the tool could be adopted widely, helping to improve equity in scholarship access and reduce administrative burdens.

Addressing Scattered Scholarship Management Challenges
High school counselors often support dozens of students, each with multiple scholarship applications requiring different requirements, essays, references, and deadlines. Currently, many rely on scattered notes and manual tracking, which can lead to missed opportunities. The concept of a centralized scholarship organizer has been discussed as a potential solution for some time, but it is now entering a testing phase to assess its practical benefits.
This pilot follows broader efforts to leverage technology in educational administration to streamline counselor workflows and improve student outcomes. The idea is to develop a simple, effective MVP that can be scaled if proven successful.
“The goal is to create a tool that consolidates all scholarship requirements and deadlines, making it easier for counselors to support students effectively.”
